Screwball!
The blurb: A comedy drama about two young people struggling through their first sexual encounter, and having to deal with each other’s expectations, a shiny trumpet and way too many cats.
This little film is so utterly gorgeous even if it gets a bit sickly and didactic toward the end – but it was made as a personal development course film so I guess that’s to be expected. It explores the issues teens face today when first having sex: porn, friends, social media, sexting, body image and – most importantly – consent. I love how the young woman is armed with information about consent before she goes in and she’s the one who leads the conversation about it. It’s also got a lot of funny moments and it’s very watchable. There’s nothing explicit in this film but I think it’s a great movie about sex that more people need to see, not just teenagers.
